CAMA

AGENDA

NETWORK
CAMA – Cultural Association develops its work through a network of artistic, institutional and territorial collaborations that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of its practice. More than occasional relationships, these partnerships constitute spaces of encounter, listening and collective construction, fundamental to the development of the organisation’s creations, residencies, editorial projects and programming activities.
Over the past years, CAMA has collaborated with artists, festivals, theatres, municipalities, cultural associations and independent spaces, both in Portugal and internationally, fostering contexts for the creation and circulation of contemporary practices connected to dance, performance, image and critical thought, while expanding its projects into new curatorial and artistic contexts.
Its close relationship with the Algarve region occupies a central place within the identity of the association, through continuous work with local communities, cultural organisations and presentation venues across the territory. CAMA maintains an ongoing and close collaboration with the Municipality of Lagos, the organisation’s main institutional partner and a fundamental supporter in the development of its artistic and cultural activities.
CAMA is currently seeking to establish new strategic partnerships through patronage and institutional collaboration in order to consolidate and expand its artistic activity, while continuing the development of its headquarters — the former Escola Primária de Almádena. Conceived as a space for creation, encounter and exchange, CAMA’s future home aims to establish itself as an active cultural hub within the region, hosting artistic residencies, rehearsals, training activities, programming and community-based projects connected to contemporary arts.
We believe that strengthening these alliances is essential to ensuring the sustainability of the organisation’s work and to creating long-term conditions for contemporary artistic creation in the Algarve.
