PEDRA DURA - Algarve Dance Festival is an international festival dedicated to contemporary dance and performative practices, created with the purpose of establishing the Algarve as an active territory for contemporary artistic creation, critical thinking and circulation.
More than a platform for presenting performances, PEDRA DURA positions itself as a meeting place for artists, audiences and communities, fostering experiences that intersect dance, performance, image, sound and interdisciplinary practices. The festival presents national and international creations, artistic residencies, talks, workshops and community-based projects, building a programme that privileges experimentation, listening and a close relationship with the territory.
Understanding the body as a political, poetic and collective space, PEDRA DURA seeks to give visibility to diverse contemporary languages, supporting both emerging and established artists while creating conditions for the development of new forms of artistic creation and critical thought in the south of Portugal.
